HALLOWEEN AND SUPERSTITIONS

It is widely believed that many Halloween traditions originated from Celtic harvest festivals which may have pagan roots. Halloween include activities such as visiting haunted houses, playing pranks, lighting candles or participating in divination games.

Our students were asked to present on their iPads different superstitions which exist not only during Halloween celebrations but general in people's life. Thus, they referred to the belief that a broken mirror or seeing a black cat may bring bad luck. Some other children talked about the superstition of opening an umbrella indoors or walking under a ladder can lead the person doing that in several misfortunes in his life. What is really interesting, is that some of these superstitions still exist in our civilized societies.
