INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO HUMAN RIGHTS

Reading books broadens people's mind. That's why, literature plays a significant role in our school. "Uncle Tom's Cabin" is the book that our sixth graders have been reading lately in their Greek lessons. At the same time, in our English book the students are informed about South Africa and more specifically, Cape Town. This fact, gave us the opportunity for an interdisciplinary approach to Human Rights.

The students were asked to use all the information they had acquired both from the book "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and their English text in order to express their personal opinion about Human Rights in class. Later the pupils were asked to create iPad projects where they not only presented and explicated Human Rights but also referred to the importance of their maintenance for humanity.
