"THE POETRY OF HUMAN RIGHTS"

March 21 is officially declared both as Human Rights Day and as World Poetry Day. It is widely known that poetry is a symbol of human spirit's creativity and it is used as a means to express ideas and opinions. A lot of poems were written in order to support freedom and fight racism. Thus, a poem written by Countee Cullen was read to the sixth graders who were later asked to discuss its connotations. The students tried to compare the days described in the poem with the contemporary period. Later projects on racial discriminations were created by the students who tried to capture the importance of freedom in our life.
